The Open Group Berlin 2017

0A smart city can enhance the quality of life of its citizens, and be a source of profit for its enterprises. This does not just happen. The city administration plays a central role in developing and sustaining the ecosystem of companies and individuals that supply, operate, maintain and use the smart systems and technology. The Smart Cities workshop at a recent event from The Open Group concluded that:

- Smart city ecosystems need to be dynamic
- Technology must improve conditions to justify its introduction and enable growth
- A common procurement framework can help cities reduce costs
- Architecture should provide the basis for introduction and use of smart technology
- Cities should collaborate to develop smart city architectures.

The Berlin event will bring together city administrators and industry experts to discuss achievements in smart city architecture, lessons learnt, and emerging issues. Its focus will be on how an architecture framework such as TOGAF® can help administrations govern the introduction of smart systems to enable their citizens and businesses to thrive and prosper.
